Throwback Tasting: Ravines 2018 Dry Riesling + Where to Eat in Geneva
We’re dipping back into our video archives for this one. It’s a 2021 tasting of a 2018 Dry Riesling from Ravines Wine Cellars. If you love Finger Lakes Riesling (and if you’re here, we’re guessing you do!), this is a great example of why the region shines with this varietal.
Even after just a few years in the bottle, this wine has evolved beautifully. The bright citrus and green apple core is still there, along with stone fruit and floral undertones, and surprisingly—a bit of lychee. It has that classic Riesling complexity with hints of honey and a whisper of petrol. Ravines always nails that balance of precision and texture, and this vintage is no exception.

One of the reasons we love visiting Ravines is that you can settle in and enjoy more than just the wine—they offer cheese plates and seasonal bites that make for a perfect, relaxed pairing experience. If you’re planning a stop in Geneva (and we think you should!), here are some other local favorites we talk about in the episode—and a few more worth checking out:
